JOB DESCRIPTION
American Apparel is seeking an experienced Financial Project Manager to assist with company's financial reporting and assist in facilitating the companys interim and annual audits. Financial Project Manager will also assist in implementation of accounting systems and controls, as well as participate in implementation of the companys ERP system and other project based tasks.

NOTE: Applicants must have the required experience and skills in order to apply. Salary compensation based on previous work experience and salary history. This is a full-time and permanent position. The work environment is fast-paced, friendly, dynamic and offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual. Other duties of this position include but are not limited to those described below:

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Draft the American Apparel's consolidated financial statements while collecting and assembling all supporting schedules and reconciliations required to support the financial statements and footnotes.
  • Facilitate collection of all materials and documents required for American Apparel's interim and year-end financial audits; review these materials for accuracy and completeness and coordinates their delivery to the auditors.
  • Assist the management in preparation of SEC filings including 10-Q and 10-K reports.
  • Participate in the companys ERP system implementation to support deployment of General Ledger and Cost Accounting modules.
  • Conduct financial analyses independently or lead a team.
  • Review account reconciliation prepared by less experienced accountants, and assists with their on-the-job training.
  • Provide assistance on technical matters and serves as a significant information resource.
  • Work to improve data quality processes and report design to meet diverse and changing needs for management reporting.
  • Write reports of recommendations and deliver formal presentations of analytic findings and suggested action steps to management.
  • Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed; Work independently; accountable to complete work assignments.
  • Provide project supervision to junior staff.

    REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA/BS with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance.
  • Masters degree or CPA or in progress preferred.
  • Must have substantial (seven (7)+ years) directly related accounting and/or cost accounting experience including previous experience designing and preparing financial statements.
  • Excellent knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, applications and accounting systems.
  • Excellent communication, planning, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough.
  • Team player that can thrive in a fast paced environment.

    PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Demonstrate a solid grasp of cost and inventory accounting, general business concepts, realistic judgment, and quantitative and critical thinking skills.
  • Manufacturing and/or retail experience.
  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy and use data to identify and solve problems .
  • Plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks within a defined time period.
  • Write and speak clearly and concisely.
  • Display a comprehensive understanding of internal controls.
  • Work effectively with others.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and use of the internet.
