Job Description


The Director of Financial Reporting oversees the Companys financial reporting function by working with various business leaders and accounting professionals within the Company to develop and execute corporate financial reporting processes. The Director of Financial Reporting is the point person responsible for both internal and external financial reporting, including regulatory filings; technical accounting leadership, implementation of accounting policies across the Company and compliance with GAAP. The Director of Financial Reporting also plays a key role in the Companys efforts to implement new technology in order to improve the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting processes and improve financial reporting deliverables. Finally, the Director of Financial Reporting collaborates with the Companys financial planning staff by developing and providing reports of relevant historical data for Companys various financial forecasting tools.

This position reports to the Corporate Controller, and is supported by an Accounting Manager for internal financial reporting and a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant. The position is ideal for an ambitious, experienced professional who seeks an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial and rapidly-growing public company.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the financial reporting process by overseeing the internal and external financial reporting efforts.
  • Design and implement process improvements for the companys financial reporting function.
  • Provide leadership in interpretation and implementation of GAAP.
  • Oversee preparation and period enhancement of the Companys internal financial reporting package; review financial reporting package for completeness and accuracy.
  • Lead the preparation of SEC filings including 10-Q and 10-K reports.
  • Draft MD&A as well as the earnings related press releases and conference call scripts.
  • Assist the legal department in preparation and drafting of the proxy filings.
  • Assist with financial planning, budgeting and forecasting through collaboration with the Companys financial planning staff in order to develop and provide reports of relevant and historical actual data.
  • Work to improve data quality processes and report design to meet diverse and changing needs for management reporting.
  • Lead the implementation of financial consolidation and reporting software.
  • Develop a strategy and lead the effort to design a repository of historical financial reports.
  • Train and develop members of the corporate financial reporting team.
  • Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.


    Job Requirements


  • The ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years of years experience in auditing, preferably with a Big Four public accounting firm. In addition, several years of experience in the financial reporting function in industry will be helpful.
  • Strong academic record with an undergraduate degree from a reputable undergraduate school.
  • Must have CPA license to be considered. This position requires a superior, in-depth, knowledge of GAAP and requires a successful candidate to provide leadership in technical accounting matters.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including significant relevant experience with financial consolidations and reporting. Candidates experienced with consolidations and reporting of multi-divisional entities, as well as companies with manufacturing operations and significant international operations will be at an advantage.
  • Must have outstanding written and oral communication skills (authoring and delivering presentations to senior management and outside audiences, drafting memos and management reports to various internal constituencies).
  • Must have excellent project management skills (workflow planning and management, people management and coaching, etc.).
  • Must have positive attitude, confident demeanor, and be willing to tackle challenging tasks under tight deadlines this is a fast-paced, start-up, entrepreneurial environment where people at all levels are expected to "roll up their sleeves" and exhibit a "can do" spirit.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills; experience with business performance management systems (e.g., Hyperion, Cognos) and business intelligence software, and experience working and extracting information from various accounting platforms.
  • Experience in retail and manufacturing settings is helpful.
  • International work experience and foreign languages is helpful.
  •
